Duane Keith Jahnke was born September 6, 1935 in St. Paul, MN, son of Edward and Violet Jahnke. He was raised in the Como Park area of St. Paul and following high school he attended Dunwoody Institute to learn carpentry. he worked first for Vern Donay Builders in Minneapolis before joining the Army in 1958. After the service he returned to St. paul before moving to Northfield when he began working for Harold Kotz Plumbing. he then went back to building homes as a finish carpentar for P & M Construction, now College City Homes. later he started with Sheldahl in tehir carpentry shop before moving to boiler operator. He retired in 1998 but continued as a boiler operator part time until February 2008. Duane passed away August 26, 2008.
