Civilian:Edward was born on May 20, 1894 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota. His father Joseph was born in Horstein, Germany and his mother, Lena (maiden name, Siegler), was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. They resided at 921 First Avenue North. His wife, Antoinette, resided at 729 Central Avenue. Edward was employed by Faribault Furniture Company as a shipping clerk prior to being inducted. When Edward entered and also when he was discharged from service he indicated his home address to be that of his parents. When discharged he returned to civilian life and resumed his former activities.
Military Service Record:Edward was inducted on June 13, 1918 at Faribault as a Private and was issued the serial number 3,451,047. His original assignment was with Company F, Minnesota 2nd Regiment. He was located at the Air Service Mechanics School in St. Paul, Minnesota until he was honorably discharged on December 20, 1918. He was reported as 0% disabled at that time.
