Civilian Life:Ido was born on November 7, 1895 in Macomb, McDonald Township, Illinois. His father was born in England. His mother was Sarah A. Blythe. At the time of his enlistment Ido was employed as a tinner by Louis Klima. His residence at that time was 134th E South Street, Owatonna of Steele County, Minnesota. After discharge from military service he returned to this address.
Military Record:Ido enlisted into military sevice on December 4, 1913 as a Sergeant in Headquarters Company I of the Minnesota National Guard 2nd Infantry. The Minnesota National Guard 2nd Infantry was activated to become the 136th Infantry, 34th Division. From September 27, 1917 to August 23, 1918 he trained at Camp Cody, Deming, New Mexico. In August, 1918 he was honorably discharged in order to accept a commission. On August 26, 1918 Ido was promoted from Sergeant to 2nd Lieutenant and then on August 29, 1919 to 1st Lieutenant. As an officer he was assigned to Company K of the 133rd Infantry, 34th Division and then (date unknow) transferred to the 358th Infanty until discharged. His record also notes him being assigned to "4th D.J.C., 34th Division." On October 12, 1918 he embarked from Hoboken on the ship "Talthy bius(sp?)" and on October 25, 1918 he arrived at Berkinhead, England. From December 24, 1918 to May 19, 1919 he was stationed in Gerolstein, Germany. On June 9, 1919 he arrived in Boston, Massachuettes. and then on June 27, 1919 he was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He was reported as 0% disabled at that time.
