Ingvald was born on July 21, 1894 at Bryant, Hamline County, South Dakota. His father, C.K., and his mother, Gertrude, were both born in Norway, and resided at Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota at the time of his enlistment. Before Induction Ingvald was a student in Electical Engineering at Massechuettes Institute of Technology. His home residence at that time was 712 West 3rd Street, Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota. When Ingvald was discharged he returned to the same residentail address and resumed his former activities much in the same condition as before his military service.
Military Service Record:
Ingvald was inducted on September 6, 1917 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota into Company B, 313 Engineers, National Army and was issued a serial number of 2136365. He trained in the 3rd Officer Training Corps at Camp Dodge, Iowa from January 5, 1918 to April 19, 1918 and at F.A.R.D. Camp, Jackson, South Carolina from May 5, 1918 to August 4, 1918. On August 5 he was transferred to 156 Dep. Brigade Headquarters. He was stationed at the 11th F.A. Brigade, Camp Meade, Maryland until March 6, 1919 and was attached to Company E of the 160th Infantry until discharge. He was promoted in rank from Private to 1st Lieutenant as follows: to Private First Class on November 1, 1917, to Sergeant on April 19, 1918, discharged as Sergeant and then re-enlisted with a 2nd Lieutenant Commission on June 1, 1918; to 1st Lieutenant, Field Artillery, U.S.A. on November 2, 1918. He embarked from Hoboken, New Jersey on the ship Aquitania on Novembeer 2, 1918 and arrived at Brent, France on November 9, 1918. In France he was stationed at Camp de Souge, APO 705, Bordeaux from November 13, 1918(?) to February 9, 1919 and then at Camp Genicart, Bordeaux from February 9, 1919 to March 13, 1919. He arrived at Hoboken, New Jersey on March 24, 1919 on the ship Matsonia and was honorably discharged from service at Camp Dodge, Iowa on April 26, 1919.
