Biography: 

Civilian:
Leonard Bokman was born August 15, 1899 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota.  His father, John and his mother, Hanna were both born in Netherlands.  When Leonard enlisted he was farming with his father.

Military Service Record:
Leonard Enlisted on May 8, 1917 at Faibault, Rice county, Minnesota as a Private with serial number 1,426,435.  His original assignment was to the Minnesota National Guard 2nd Infantry.  The 2nd Infantry was activated to become the 136th Infantry of the 34th Division.   On (date unstated) he transferred to the 144th Infantry until discharged.  He trained at Camp Cody, Deming, New Mexico.  On November 16, 1917 he was promoted to Private 1st Class, on June 15, 1918 to Corporal. and on January 1, 1919 his rank was changed back to Private.  On September 13, 1918, he embarked from Hoboken, New Jersey and on September 24 arrived at Liverpool, England.  From October 24 to November 1, 1918 Leonard was stationed at LeMans, France.  There he was not envolved in any engagements.  On June 6, 1919 he returned to Hoboken.  On June 16, 1919 he was discharged as a Private at Camp Dodge, Iowa.  He was reported as 0% disabled at that time.
