Biography: 

Civilian:
Leonard was born on April 23rd 1889 at Kenyon, Goodhue County, Minnesota.  His father, C.L. was born in Norway and his mother, Agnes, was born in the USA.  They resided at Kenyon.  Leonard was married to Gertrude and their home residence was at 701 2nd Street South, Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota.  Leonard was self employed as a dentist and returned to this career in Faribault after discharge.

Miltary Service Record:
Leonard was inducted on September 15, 1917 at Minneapolis, Minnesota as a 1st Lieutenant.  His first assignment was with the Dental Corps of the Medical Det. of the 136th Infantry of the 34th Division at Minneapolis.  He had previous military service in Company B of the Minnesota National Guard 2nd Infantry.  From September 15, 1917 to August 1, 1918 he was stationed at Camp Cody, New Mexico.  From August 4 to October 10, 1918 he was stationed at Camp Dix, New Jersey.  On October 12, 1918 he embarked form Hoboken, New Jersey on the ship Maleta.  On October 24 he arrived at Liverpool, England.  From October 30 to December 15, 1918 he was stationed at Le Mans, France.  From January 15 to February 1, 1919 he was stationed at Camp 52 (Hospital?), Le Mans, France.  From February 2 to 20, 1919 he was at Base 8 (Hospital?), St. Nazaire. France.  On March 7, 1919 he arrived at Hoboken, New Jersey.   From May 12 to 29, 1919 he was stationed at General 29 (Hospital?), Fort Snelling, Minnesota.  On May 29, 1919 he was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
