Biography: 

Civilian:
Martin was born on June 20, 1895 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota.  His father, George, and his mother, Emelie Otto (maiden name), were both born in Germany.  Their residence was at 802 West 6th North, Faribault.  Martin was single and listed his occupation as laborer.  After his service he returned to these activities residing at 4th Street and 7th Avenue in Faribault.

Military Service Record:
Martin enlisted on June 25, 1917 at Faribault as a Private.  His first assignment was with MG Company, Minnesota National Guard 2nd Infantry at Faribault.  He transferred to Company B of the Minnesota National Guard 2nd Infantry which became activated as Company B of the 136th Infantry of the 34th Division where he served until discharged.  From November of 1917 to January 11, 1919 he was stationed at Camp Cody, New Mexico.  On January 11, 1918 he was honorably discharged per S C D.  At that time he was reported 12 1/2% disabled.
