Civilian:Nick was born on June 19, 1889 in Sica Salonika Greece. Both his father and mother were born at Sica and were both deceased at the time of his enlistment. At the time of his enlistment he was self employed as a waiter at a "place of my own". His residence also at that time was 340 South 2nd Avenue, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. When Nick was discharged he returned to a similar career at Cisco Avenue, Eastland, Texas.
Military Service Record:Prior to enlisting Nick had some military service as a Cook in General Mess Corps. Nick enlisted into military service on June 28, 1916 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota as a Cook with serial number 1,426,883. His first assignment was with Company B of the Minnesota National Guard 2nd Infantry at Fort Snelling. He trained at Camp Cody, New Mexico. The Minnesota National Guard 2nd Infantry was activated as the 136th Infantry of the 34th Division. On March 1, 1918 he was transferred to Supply Company, 136th Infantry until discharge. On November 16, 1917 his rank was Cook. On January 20, 1918 his rank changed to Private. On March 1, 1918 his rank was changed to Cook Mch. On October 13, 1918 he boarded the English ship Melida at Hoboken, New Jersey and on October 24 he arrived at Liverpool, England. While overseas he was stationed at Beaumone Sur Sarthe, France. On July 12, 1919 he arrived back in the USA. On July 23, 1919 he was honorably discharged as a Cook at Camp Travis, Texas. At that time he was reported as 0% disabled.
