Biography: 

Civilian:
Oscar was born on January 22, 1891 in Kxxkxxxx(sp?), Illinois.  His father, Henry, and mother, Mary, were both born in the USA.  Oscar was self employed as a farmer near Slayton, Minnesota.  After discharge he returned to an address on Route 1, Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota and was employed by Hector Brule.  His record notes "Intends making Rice County his home."

Military Service Record:
On date unknown Oscar was inducted at Slayton, Minnesota as a Private and given a serial number of 1,435,993.  He was initially assigned to Supply Troop #5 of  Company G, 388th Infantry, 97th Division of the US Army.  He trained for about five weeks at Camp Cody, New Mexico.  From December 1918 to February 10, 1919 he was located at Fort Bliss, Texas.  On February 10, 1919 he was honorably discharged as a Private from Fort Bliss.  Oscar qualified for a "Government Bonus Check" of $60.
