Biography: 

Civilian:
Paul was born on February 17, 1889 at Northfield, Rice County Minnesota.  His father's name was Ole and his mother's maiden name was Mary Brensetter.  His mother, listed as a widow in the 1918 Rice County directory, lived at 1002 Union, Northfield, Rice County, Minnesota.  He was married to Ethel Irene Kelly (maiden name) on February 12, 1918 at Minneapolis, Minnesota where they resided until he entered the service.

Miltary Service Record:
Paul was inducted into service on May 1, 1918 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota as a Private and was assigned a serial number of 444,898.  He was ordered to report on May 5, 1918 to Columbus Barracks at Columbus, Ohio.  He was assigned to Company H of the 53rd Infantry where he served until discharge.  On July 6, 1918 he left the USA for France.  On about October 3, 1918 he was severely wounded in battle action at Alsase, France.  On December 23, 1918 he arrived back in the USA.  On March 21, 1919 he was honorably discharged "SCD."  At that time he was reported 50% disabled in view of occupation.
