Bob entered the service in July 1942. His basic training was at San Bernadino, CA. He took additional training at Fort Houston, TX. He was also at Camp Barkley, TX; Forth Warren, WY and Camp Pleascheu, LA. His overseas tour of duty included stints on Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He served in food supplies. He was awarded the Good Conduct medal and a theater service ribbon.
