Biography: 

Civilian:
Wallace was born on March 23, 1892 at Waseca, Waseca County, Minnesota.  His father, W.R., and mother, Margaret, claimed the USA as their native country.  Wallace was a piano tuner.  He was single and listed his home address before and after military service as  Waseca.  When discharged Wallace returned to his former position in civilian life.

Military Service Record:
Wallace enlisted on July 15, 1917 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota as a Musician as was issued a serial number of1,425,994.   His initial assignment was to the 2nd Minnesota Infantry, Minnesota National Guard.   On October 1 he began training at Camp Cody, New Mexico.  On August 20, 1918 he was assigned to Headquarters Company, 2nd Minnesota.  On an unknow date he was transferred to Headquarters Company 136th Infantry.  On November 1, 1918 he was transferred to the 136th Infantry Band School.  On December 20 he was transferred to Headquarters Company, 17 FA where he remained until he was discharged.  From October 15, 1918 to August 4, 1919 he served overseas and describes his activities as follows: "Played with Army band at Base Hospitals in France, and trained at Ehrenbreisten, Germany from October 30, 1918 to about July 1919."  On June 17, 1918 he was promoted in rank to Musician 3rd Class.  On July 15, 1918 he was promoted to Musician 2nd Class.  On August 4, 1919 he arrived in New York.  On August 14, 1919 he was honorably discharged as a Musician 2nd Class at Camp Dodge, Iowa.  He was reported as 0% disabled at that time.
